Forbes:The 5 Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artists

Forbes have put together a new piece documenting the five richest artists in the current world of hip-hop. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sean "Diddy" Combs tops it with an estimated worth of $580 million. According to Forbes, the bulk of this wealth comes from his non-musical ventures - predominantly his deal with Diageo's Ciroc which entitles him to eight-figure annual payouts and a nine-figure windfall if the brand is ever sold. In at number two is Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter with a net worth of $475 million; made predominantly from a $204 million Rocawear sale in 2007 and his $150 million pact with Live Nation the following year. Third is Andre "Dr. Dre" Young with $350 million; mainly thanks to his Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Bryan "Birdman" Williams is number 4 due to his company Cash Money Records, netting him a fortune of $150 million. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson rounds out the list at number 5, taking home $125 million from heavy sales of his music, merchandise, video games and books, as well as a payout for his stake in VitaminWater by parent Glacéau in 2007.
