Elle Fanning on the cover of LOVE
She is becoming mine (and everyone else's) favourite little fashionista. First Marc Jacobs, now the cover of the bi-annual fashion bible LOVE. Looking ridiculously angelic and etherial, with spooky lighting that sends chills down my spine. Lets hope she does the transition from child star to adult star with grace and poise and no flashing of underwear as she falls out of a taxi!

The ultimate toy watch.
Kidrobot and Swatch have teamed up to create 8 of the coolest watches I've seen in a long time. These bad boys surpass the Baby-G coolness and smash the vibrancy of the Nixon watch. Plus they come with matching Dunny. Kidrobot and Swatch asked 8 contemporary artists to put their individual styles onto the would be blank canvases of the Original Swatch watch and the white Dunny. Its bling I wouldn't mind having on my wrist!

A flamingo was carrying my clutch bag
Markus Lupfer has created an awesome video for his Resort collections with the help of stylist Aldene Johnson and director Tabitha Denholm, starring Florence Welch, Sadie Frost and more fashion icons. The video is a tongue in cheek mock-u-mentary shot in a 60's style with scratched effect film and styling to match. It shows a funny side to somewhat stern model like Irina Lazareanu and an even better side of Sadie Frost who appears obsessed with everything A-symetrical, a problem that many fashionista's suffer from! Check out the video in style.com for all the laughs.

"Alife" "NY" and "Crack"! 'Private Property'
Alife presents: Jessica Clark by Amy Dellar from alifenyc on Vimeo.
The other day NY street wear brand Alife posted this video 'Jessica Clark by Amy Dellar'. The short is a portrait of a cute young lady with a lot of tattoos going about her daily business, all the while the words "Alife" "New York" and "Crack" are emblazoned in white in the middle of the screen for the duration of the video. I was not entirely sure what the video was even for, but after some digging around on the Alife site I found this photo below: a table supported by the words "Alife", "NY" and "Crack"! The table is part of Alife's 'Private Property' exhibition thanks ruby

Underwater bedroom -
Rest in bed, when all around you rages marine life. Many of us could only dream of something like that. But some dreams have the property becomes a reality. About five years ago at the Conrad Rangali Island has opened Maldivs underwater restaurant. In honor of its fifth anniversary, the restaurant guests have a unique opportunity not only to eat well in the 12-seat restaurant and sleep in this bed in a room with a panoramic view. And all this at a depth of several meters below the Indian Ocean
Life After
This series is an exploration into the tattoos, and lives, of members of South Africa’s ‘Numbers’ prison gangs (the 26s, 27s & 28s) after having been released back into society, normally after many years, if not decades, of imprisonment.
Tattooing has always been forbidden in the South African prison system, with severe penalties, but the drive to create these marks is so strong that tattooing equipment will be created somehow. Pigment will come from grinding up rubbish bins, industrial rubber washers, batteries, or bricks. This will then be mixed with saliva, and will be pushed under the skin with nails pulled out of furniture, or sewing needles. READ MORE

Oversized and Oversexed, Murakami Mines the Past With Racy New Gagosian Show in London
Takashi Murakami has a confidence crisis. Perhaps bored with the Manga imagery always associated with his name, the Jeff Koons of Japan clearly wants to prove in his new Gagosian show in gallery his artistic roots reach further than the relatively recent Anime culture. This is most apparent in four triptychs that pay imitative homage to the turn-of-the-century painter Kuroda Seiki, best known for having introduced Western style of painting to Japan. One of Murakami's triptychs is a copy of Kuroda's own "Wisdom, Impression, Sentiment," a 1900 composition of three realistic female nudes to which Murakami has boldly added a double signature: "Seiki Kuroda – Takashi Murakami 1899-2010." The claim for a lineage couldn't be more explicit. READ MORE (artinfo)
The Dictionary as Art Concept?
How important is originality when it comes to book design? The issue came up recently in a panel discussion in Zurich that I took part in, organized around the annual Most Beautiful Swiss Books competition. The term “beauty” is something of a red herring here. What the jury, which included Cornel Windlin (the chair), Lars Müller and Linda van Deursen, seemed to be looking for were books that contribute something new in their design. Exactly what this means in terms of the 19 titles they chose for their final selection, and how these books meet this criterion, was never properly defined during our discussion. But it did seem that a book that was merely excellent in applying a familiar design approach, as plenty of the also-rans appeared to be, couldn’t, in the jury’s view, qualify as a “most beautiful” book.

Paper fashion in Betty
I've been a fan of the online magazine Betty for a while and adore their soft stylings and girly notions. The fashion is cute but what really caught my attention was the cut out paper fashion shoot in the most recent issue. It was created by a wonderful lady called Lou Taylor from Brighton, who I have had the pleasure of meeting previously. Betty is very good at reinventing fashion shoots in magazines and breaking the boundaries from just a photographic shoot. Lou Taylor has shown you can communicate a current fashion styling without a gangly model and the other shoots within Betty add on to what you normally see. Even if it is adding garden flowers to a whimsical image, its refreshing and just so darn cute!

Gerry Judah Jaguar E-Type Sculpture
Constructed using half a kilometre of 1200mm diameter steel tube, this sculpture by Gerry Judah stands 28 metres tall and weighs over 175 tonnes – the equivalent to 135 E-types! A striking tribute to a true motoring icon. The E-Type was an overnight sensation when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961. Despite changing fashions and the passage of time, our fascination with the E-Type is as strong today as it was 50 years ago, and those swooping curves are still as breathtaking as they were when Enzo Ferrari described it as
“The most beautiful car ever Made.”

Terence Conran Funds Design Museum Move
Designer Terence Conran, who will turn 80-years-old this year, will be giving a huge gift of approx. £17.5m to help London's Design Museum move six mile west. Although the Design Museum are very happy with the building they're currently in, most people agree that the space (a former banana warehouse situated on the Thames) is much too small. The move will see them take over the currently unoccupied Commonwealth Institute in Kensington, giving it three times as much space.
"Moving to the Commonwealth Institute will allow all our dreams and ambitions for the Design Museum to come true, to create a world class space with the size and scope for the serious promotion and celebration of design and architecture in this country. I am also uplifted by the support we are receiving from Government, who recognise the enormous contribution the creative industries make to the economy and the quality of life of ordinary people. Design, manufacturing and business are completely interlinked and one cannot succeed without the other."

Underground Gallery Space
The V&A museum in London have unveiled a winning proposal for a huge new underground gallery space. Seven architects submitted designs, ranging from the understated to the extravagant, but in the end London-based studio Amanda Levete Architects were chosen to build the extension. Amanda Levete commented the she "dreamed of working on a major public and cultural project ever since I started as an architect, and it doesn't get much better than this". The underground gallery is just one of many projects Levete is currently working on, with others including a hotel in Bangkok, a subway station in Naples with artist Anish Kapoor, and a residential tower in Shoreditch, east London.
Elle Fanning for Marc By Marc Jacobs
Now Elle Fanning is following in the footsteps of her older sister Dakota by being the new face of Marc By Marc Jacobs. A fresh faced model of 13 with whimsical stylings and stern looks. I'm sure the campaign will run with great success and put the Fanning sisters firmly on the fashion map. However I do feel old looking at these young models, with Hailee Steinfeld modelling for Miu Miu. Then again this is just the next generation catching up, so look out!

"Disney will always be magical, no matter what age.”
Taylor Jones has a blog called Dear Photograph in which he holds up old photos in the exact location that they were taken, bringing the past back to life. With each photograph, the owner of the image makes a statement about the photo. At first he was just posting his own photos, but now he gets tons of email submissions from all over the world. He is now hard at work on a book. THANX Design Milk
Chris O'Dowd on Graham Norton
Chris O'Dowd looked very good on Graham Norton's show last night on BBC1. He wore a pale blue suit jacket with simple white shirt, spotted tie and plain black trousers. Topped off with some worn chelsea boots and dishevelled beard. Maybe it is the shock of not seeing him in geeky t-shirts from the IT crowd but Chris O'Dowd looked hot and very cool, a definite male pin up for being beyond the fashion trend.

COMBO x Moleskine Installation by Paolo “Zero-T” Capezzuoli
COMBO X Moleskine: "INK SMOKE OVER STAPLED NOTES" from Combo Clothing on Vimeo.
Della collaborazione con Moleskine, COMBO mostra ora la video-presentazione dell’opera “Ink Smoke Over Stapled Notes” realizzata da Paolo ‘Zero-T‘ Capezzuoli. Any given surface can be reenvisioned and adapted from its original and “primary” form, creating fresh canvas possibilities, those that expand both in dimension and impact. I think the Moleskine notebooks I used in this piece, multiplied beyond its daily function in the personal sense, show a great example of this concept at work.
