Energy Belt

Imagine if you could use your tummy flab to power up your electrical gadgets. Sounds like a win-win scenario. That’s the Energy Belt, one of the products in the 2012 edition of NANO Supermarket, a presentation of ‘speculative nanotech products that may hit the shelves within the next ten years’.
Basically, artificial protocells mimick natural brown fat to convert white fat into ATP, an coenzyme that acts as an energy carrier. This chemical energy can then charge your cell phone for instance. We’ve been waiting for forever to get a hoverboard, so we aren’t really holding our breath for the Energy Belt to hit the shelves. But hey, who knows? In ten years’ time, it might just pay to be fat. Time to supersize these meals.

 Thanks NANO Supermarket,
