 Illustrator, painter and photographer Curtis Kulig based in New York, has created a series of prints teamed up with Saturdays Surf NYC. Three designs to collect, each limited to only 100 editions are now available online and were the subject of the brands Tokyo store 1st anniversary celebrations over the weekend.

From the time they wake up to the time they go to sleep, these individuals shoot a minimum of one photo per hour including one self portrait.

Ryan McGinley Short Film To Be Played In New York Taxis

Taxi riders of New York will soon be greeted by a 30-second video clip taken from Ryan McGinley's video For the Icelandic band Sigur Ros. The clip, called "TDB", will be played on about 3,000 New York taxi screens up until 5 February, 2012, and features his friend Jessica Tang wearing a gold wig and blue t-shirt, skipping through the streets of New York. "It's something I made this summer around the city, guerrilla style, with no permits or anything," said McGinley. "In the four or five days we shot it barely anyone acknowledged her." The idea of showing art on these screens comes from Yvonne Force Villareal and Doren Remen, co-founders of the nonprofit Art Production Fund. "We both spend a lot of time in taxis and have been wishing Taxi TV had more compelling content," Ms. Villareal said to The New York Times. "This seemed like the perfect fit." For the visuals to track "Varúð", Sigur Ros collaborated with Ryan McGinley to create a short film that follows a young golden-haired girl skipping between buildings in Chinatown, New York. The video is part of Sigur Ros's "Valtari Mystery Film Experiment" and the track comes from their latest album Valtari, which is now available to buy. www.sigur-ros.co.uk http://ryanmcginley.com/

Silverlink – ATG in NY

Silverlink is an ATG Collective showcase and will feature the works of four diverse ATG members. The artist line-up is made up of Spine TV contributor and photographer Will Robson-Scott, as well as prolific artists Jamie Brown, Dominic Corry and ATG founder Jack Murray. True to form, there's one more to add to the list today. Helmed by Pop's former editor-in-chief, Dasha Zhukova, Garage looks like a carefully curated zine, studiously low-budget and vaguely Soviet in design. Named after Zhukova's art space in Moscow and scheduled to come out during New York Fashion Week, Garage is a blend of art of fashion, featuring collaborations between renegade figures in both worlds.

Ogilvy & Mather New York and Joshua Liner Gallery unveil a series of commissioned murals by celebrated artist Stephen Powers that reinterpret the words and quotes of agency founder David Ogilvy.

Power’s bold graphic style, reminiscent of vintage advertising illustrations puts a unique emphasis on famous Ogilvy sayings and transforms them into actionable words designed to inspire the viewer. Painted in bright colors on the North stairwell of the agency’s headquarters office, the murals run from the first to the 11th floor of the office building.

The murals are being unveiled to coincide with the 100th birthday of David Ogilvy, one of the most influential and important figures in modern advertising

Sophie Bramly - Gallary 12 Mail - 1981 & +

 It has not forgotten the rap, but it has perhaps forgotten, for the very young, that was the birth of the hip-hop movement, Afrika Bambaataa, Futura, Kurtis Blow. These funny cool guys, headed and tracksuit 3-band. Then, from the scratch, strong voices and especially the attitudes to the more unusual dances which clung to the asphalt…. Outside music and considerations of bands, youth has generated a strong in those years signage, in the dark recesses of the Bronx where to risk beyond the 125th street, needed be frankly brave. Jogging earned its stripes since, but also the Kangol hats and sunglasses to large branches of Cazals. This is a bit of this epic that tells Sophie Bramly, photographer at the time in New York and describe, in detail and to embrace the world of these bands emerging of a New York shared between Uptown still little cleaned, more living and a Bronx under high vigilance. His work is not social, but it is almost painterly, with a science to detail where the lace of a shoe, a thick shoelace tells as much as a portrait capturing this youth. Sophie Bramly exposes this work to the Gallery 12mail, the opportunity to find an Edition limited to 500 copies of these images… best.

Veteran New York graffiti writer Lee Quinones leads artists (not including Blu) in painting mural on Geffen

The north wall of MOCA's Geffen Contemporary, the site of an antiwar mural by the Italian artist Blu that the museum had quickly and controversially whitewashed late last year, is getting a new look. New York graffiti legend Lee Quinones has organized a team of street artists to do a new mural on the exterior wall facing Temple Street. Scaffolding is up now, with a couple of images in progress, and work is expected to be completed next week, before the April 17 opening of the “Art in the Streets” exhibition at the Geffen.

“I could have done this wall on my own, and I haven’t really collaborated with other artists like this before,” Quinones said, reached on site Thursday afternoon with cans of spray paint near his feet and paint flecks covering his clothes and face. “But for me to do it alone might have been a diss to Blu."
